Professor Patrick H.M. Loh HonDSc, BBM, PBM Cofounder & Chairman
Professor Patrick H.M. Loh is Cofounder and Chairman of SINGAPORE LINK SCIENCES PTE LTD, DONGMAN AGRO PTE LTD and PREMIUM HERB INTERNATIONAL PTE LTD.
In 2008 to 2010, he was appointed President Commissioner/Non-Executive Chairman of both IDX- listed PT. Citra Kebun Raya Agri and PT. Royal Oak Development Asia in the Republic of Indonesia. He has served as Chairman of Scientific Advisory Board at SGX-listed Eu Yan Sang International Ltd from 2011 to June 2013 and as its Chief Scientific Officer from 2007 to 2011. In June 2013, he was appointed Chairman of the Academic Advisory Board of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation - Institute of Higher Learning (working partner with Murdoch University, University of Newcastle, Edith Cowan University in Australia and the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom).
A practicing plant scientist, he is one of the early pioneering bio-entrepreneurs in Singapore who has successfully established the commercial application of biological and molecular techniques to plant and crop improvements in the agro-based industries in the ASEAN region. He is currently a Professor at the College of Lifelong and Experiential Learning; and the School of Science & Technology of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). He is also a Professor of Western Australian State Agricultural & Biotechnology Centre (SABC) and the Centre for Crop & Food Innovation (CCFI), School of Veterinary & Life Sciences, College of Science, Health, Engineering & Education. He is an Advisory Board Member of Murdoch Business School, College of Arts, Business, Law & Social Sciences, Murdoch University, Western Australia. In November 2019, he is appointed an Advisory Board Member of the Centre for Governance and Sustainability (CGS), National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School. He has been an Adjunct Professor at the Singapore Management University (SMU)’s Lee Kong Chian School of Business from 2001 to 2018. In March 2011, he was appointed Member of the Industry Advisory Panel at the School of Biosciences, Taylor’s University, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and subsequently in February 2016, appointed as Visiting Professor to both the School of Biosciences and the School of Medicine. In October 2011, he was appointed Adviser to the Centre for Cancer Research and International Collaborative Partner Global Network (ICPGN) and Co- Principal Investigator at the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)’s Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. He served as Agri-Adviser to the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), Ministry of National Development from 2003 to 2011. He is a Chartered Horticulturist (C Hort) and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture (MCIHort) and the Chartered Institute of Management for Sports & Physical Activity (CIMSPA) in the United Kingdom. In 2005, admitted as a Member of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science & Technology (AIAST) and a Certified Practicing Agriculturist (CPAg) of Australia and New Zealand. He is also an Associate Member of the Singapore Veterinary Association (SVA).
He was appointed Chairman, Science and Engineering Cluster of the School of Science & Technology at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). Professor Loh was the Mentor-in-Residence of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) and Member of the Area of Excellence & Core Innovation Working Group at the Provost’s Office in Singapore Management University (2013 – 2015). He is a peer-reviewer for the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. In 2014, he completed and qualified as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CHt) registered with the National Guild of Hypnotists (estb 1951, New Hampshire, USA) and a Certified Member of the International Medical & Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA) in Laceyville, Pennsylvania, USA. Professor Loh completed his doctoral (PhD) research training in plant virology and tissue culture technology (1988 – 1991) from the Institute of Arable Crops Research, ROTHAMSTED EXPERIMENTAL STATION (estb 1843, Harpenden) in the United Kingdom. He also earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) in 1992 from the University of Dubuque (estb 1852, Dubuque), Iowa, USA.
In 2015, he received the highest science honour – the Honorary Doctorate of Science (HonDSc) from Murdoch University, Western Australia in recognition of his exceptional contributions to science, academia and agribusiness in the ASEAN region. In 2017, Professor Loh was appointed a Board Director of Murdoch Singapore Pte Ltd and also the Chair of the Special Advisory Group of Murdoch University in Singapore.
In 2009, he filed a joint-patent in the USA with researchers from the Nanyang Polytechnic of Singapore on “Method of Making a Red Yeast Rice Extract” (US Patent Application: US61/167543, 2009) and published in the prestigious Scientific Reports of Nature.com in March 2012. In 2011, together with food technologists from the Food Science & Nutrition Programme of the School of Chemical & Life Sciences at Nanyang Polytechnic and won the “Best New Ice Cream” Award at the 2011 International Dairy Federation (IDF) Dairy Innovation Competition in Parma, Italy.
In June 2012, he filed a Patent on “Method to Extract Borneol From Exudates of Dryobalanops aromatica” (Grant of New Patent No.: PI 2012002620) in Malaysia with medical researchers from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia. In April 2014, a patent (Grant of Patent No.: 175085) has been granted by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) for the invention of “Plant Extract Comprising Statins And Preparation Techniques And Uses Thereof”.
In 2018, a novel nutritional medicine developed through the Clinical Studies & Advanced Development (CSAD) Programme and the completion of its findings were accepted and published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Complementary Medicine & Alternative Healthcare (JCMAH) in USA.
In recognition of his leadership to the community, Professor Loh was conferred the PINGKAT BAKTI MASYARAKAT (PBM – THE PUBLIC SERVICE MEDAL) in 2001 and the BINTANG BAKTI MASYARAKAT (BBM – THE PUBLIC SERVICE STAR) in 2006 by HIS EXCELLENCY, THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE.
Mr Pengfei Chang B.Eng (Bioengineering) Cofounder & CEO
PengFei graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering, Major in Bioengineering with a Minor in Entrepreneurship from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore in 2015. In 2010, his breakthrough innovation in the nurturing of medicinal herbs under controlled-environment was realized in Singapore. This discovery led to the scale-up development for achieving the most potent Cordyceps known in the market with compliance to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) of Singapore’s Safety Standards. The medicinal herb is well-known for its high-value and medicinal potency for over two thousand years.
He went further to successfully developed an Analytical and Quality Control Systems to optimize and quantify the consistency of existing active ingredients from the batches of raw medicinal herbs cultured at the growing facilities located in Northeast China. In 2015, he becomes a qualified Member of the Asia Regulatory Professional Association (ARPA) in Singapore.
Whilst reading for his Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, he was one of the three undergraduates selected to undergo the prestigious Summer Internship at the Sales & Marketing division of Janssen – Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson (J&J). At Nanyang Technological University, PengFei had the opportunity to join the Bioengineered & Applied Nanomaterials Laboratory to undertake drug delivery project pertaining to the investigation of ‘Surface Activity of E2 Protein Nanocages at Liquid-Liquid Interface’.
In 2010, he established PREMIUM HERB INTERNATIONAL PTE LTD to supply authenticated herbal materials for the traditional and modernised TCM and healthcare industries in Singapore. In 2012, he formulated and obtained the necessary approval from the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) of Singapore for the first High Active Ingredient Certified-Organic Cordyceps modernised Chinese Proprietary Medicine (CPM) capsule product (Formuliv brand) (HSA Product Listing Number 120686) in Singapore. He is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DONGMAN AGRO PTE LTD.
Under the tutelage of Professor Patrick H.M. Loh, PengFei and the bio-pharmaceutical team have developed an innovative Nutritional Medicine Supplement after 6 years of meticulous R&D studies using a breakthrough technology with a combination of proprietary extraction, purification and patented formulation methodologies which designed to reduce the organ ageing process and associated medical conditions. In March 2015, the Health Sciences Authority of Singapore (HSA) has granted its approval and is commercially available in Singapore. In April 2015, an official Trade Mark has been granted by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).
